The city of Nový Bor has been connected with glassmaking for centuries. The town itself originated as a centre of textile production, but it was the glassmaking industry that made it flourish. In the building where a museum now stands, there used to be the residence and glassworks of the famous Friedrich Egermann, glassmaker, merchant, technologist, and inventor of several glasses, enamels, and glazes. Today, Nový Bor is home to the headquarters of the most famous brands such as LASVIT and CRYSTALEX, as well as many other glassmakers both large and small. This undemanding trip will take the visitor through several corners of the town, a place synonymous with glass production and trade.
