The generosity of nature

Indeed, exceptionally rich in rarities the Lusatian Mountains are… chamois, deer, wolves, mouflons, bats, orchid meadows, flowery beech groves, enchanting forests…

Among perhaps the most beautiful and truly exceptional features of the Lusatian Mountains are the meadows. Wide, beautifully blooming, creeping, crawling on the slopes, stretched in the valleys, with solitary ancient trees, inviting you to walk barefoot through the grass. And when the summer is over, the Lusatian Mountains turn into a stunning palette of vibrant colours and quiet valleys. Wandering through the Lusatian forests and meadows brings unprecedented encounters with chamois, deer, and game. Listening to the autumn deer roars or watching a swarm of Perseids while lying in a mountain meadow will forever be etched into your soul.

Only 700 meters high, and yet…

The Lusatian Mountains are not too large and not too high, yet the ten 700 meters tall peaks here, thanks to their prominence, are sure to thoroughly test the fitness of anyone who wishes to conquer them.

Connected with heaven

Major churches and small chapels or shrines are scattered across the landscape like beads. They make one think, uplift and caress the soul, and please the eye.

The seats of the local masters

Guard castles grew like mushrooms after rain along the old trade route from Prague to Zittau. Some became charming castles, others turned into romantic ruins.
